Destination guide
The Mud Keys
The far quiet: a maze of mangrove islands, channels, and hidden beaches in the backcountry. The Mud Keys are where the six hour trip earns its keep, and where the wildlife outnumbers the people.
The Mud Keys are a cluster of mangrove islands roughly 12 miles north of Key West, laced with tidal creeks, small beaches, and quiet coves. It is the wildest stop we make: expect wading birds, rays, nurse sharks, and, on good days, dolphins in the channels. The run is part of the reward, so we save it for the 6 hour charter.
